US Speedskating will host two separate Alumni Reunions during the 2018 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Short Track and Long Track Speed Skating. All valid USS Alumni Members are invited to come and enjoy the racing, then hang around after with former teammates, friends and family. It’s a great time to cheer on the skaters that you helped pave the way for, while also reliving the glory days from when you laced them up.

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials Short Track will be held on Dec. 15-17, 2017 at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah. We have designated Saturday, Dec. 16 as the alumni reunion day in Utah. The Long Track Trials will take place from Jan. 2-7, 2018 at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisc. The day to mark down for the alumni reunion in Milwaukee is Friday, Jan. 5

Each reunion will begin immediately after that day of racing and will take place in a designated area within the venue - food and beverages included! We are also excited to offer a free event ticket to your choice of U.S. Olympic Team Trials for all USS Alumni Members! Click here for more information. Remember, sign up and be an active USS Alumni Member in order to receive all of these wonderful benefits.

We look forward to welcoming back so many of our speed skating Alumni at these events. You can help our athlete’s and the sport toward our goals in PyeongChang by signing up for your Alumni membership today!

At the age of three, Casey FitzRandolph first stepped onto the ice as a munchkin to perform in a “Wizard of Oz on Ice” production. At the age of four, he took up hockey but realized that he didn’t like the amount of time he had to spend in his hockey pads. One day during the winter of 1979-1980 he heard an ad for the Madison area All-City speed skating meet that would be taking place on the Vilas Park Lagoon. He figured since he had tried other ice skating sports, he would try speed skating. FitzRandolph instantly took to the sport and didn’t stop until he reached his goal of becoming an Olympic Champion 22 years later
The Alumni Commission caught up with Casey recently for a few laps. Click here to read.

We want to be able to recognize alumni for their various accomplishments and life events. Should you know someone who would like to share a marriage, a new arrival/birth, a promotion or other honor, please consider sharing it within our Alumni Journal. In addition, we are always looking to feature Alumni in the our Spotlight Series so let us know who you'd like to read about. Contact Matt Whewell, mwhewell@usspeedskating.org, with your tips.

USS thrives on the generosity of our donors. Does your company have a matching volunteer policy? If so, take the opportunity to submit a request for a USS match and double down on the valuable contribution you're making to our sport.
