During Pat Moore’s career, he represented the U.S. in the 1980 Junior World Championships, the 1981 Sprint and All-Around World Championships, and the World Short Track Championships in 1983 & 1984. One of highlights of Pat’s career was earning a position on the first U.S. Short Track Olympic Team in 1988, when short track was introduced as an exhibition sport into the Olympic program in Calgary, Canada.
The Alumni Commission caught up with Pat recently for a few laps. Click here to read.

With the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games right around the corner, we are excited to be hosting the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in two separate states and venues. Because of these two great events, what better way to encourage alumni and former skaters to come support the new wave of athletes as they compete for a spot on the Olympic team?

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials Short Track will be held on Dec. 15-17, 2017 at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah. We have designated Saturday, Dec. 16 as a day to hold an alumni reunion. The Long Track Trials will take place from Jan. 2-7, 2018 at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisc. The day to mark down for the alumni reunion in Milwaukee is Friday, Jan. 5

More details will be posted, released and blasted out as we formally organize the festivities. We currently have plans to offer some special packages for Alum seeking bundled accommodation, tickets and special events/perks in a one stop shop. For the Alumni Reunion/s, our plans are to get everyone to attend the day's races and immediately following have a specially designated area for USS Alumni Members - food and beverages included. The Pettit Center is thrilled and honored to host the 2018 U.S. Olympic Speedskating Trials - Long Track on January 2-7, 2018. It coincides with 25th Anniversary of the opening of the Pettit Center, December 31, 1992.

Many improvements are being made to the center as we prepare for the team trials including new flooring around the inside of the Oval, new lighting, new timing system, and new, bigger pads around the Oval are some of the improvements for the Trials. The familiar red pads will be gone, replaced by the new blue ones.

We would be grateful for your contribution to help underwrite the new blue pads and support a safer, more attractive venue for those skating the Trials and in the years to come. US Speedskating alumni will be given special recognition on a donor board in the Pettit for “buying a pad.” Please contact rdean@thepettit.com or call 414-935-4775 for more information about donating and benefits.

We want to be able to recognize alumni for their various accomplishments and life events. Should you know someone who would like to share a marriage, a new arrival/birth, a promotion or other honor, please consider sharing it within our Alumni Journal. In addition, we are always looking to feature Alumni in the our Spotlight Series so let us know who you'd like to read about. Contact Matt Whewell, mwhewell@usspeedskating.org, with your tips.

USS thrives on the generosity of our donors. Does your company have a matching volunteer policy? If so, take the opportunity to submit a request for a USS match and double down on the valuable contribution you're making to our sport.

Looking for some US Speedskating gear? Our shop over at RallyMe has one-of-a-kind products that will make you look the part for any occasion.

Need a beanie? We got it. How about a workout shirt? It's in there. You say it's chilly so you need a long sleeve or a hoodie? Bags and hats? Yep, we got it all!
